British Coatings Federation, chief executive elected the new head of World Coatings Council

British Coating Federation (BCF) chief executive Tom Bowtell has been elected president of the World Coatings Council, which he will hold for the next two years.

In March, at the World Coatings Council’s annual meeting, Tom Bowtell, the British Coatings Federation Chief Executive Officer, was elected president. He is elected for a two-year term. Bowtell’s focus will be on sustainability as the Council releases its first sustainability report later this year. The chief executive officer of the British Coatings Federation will also chair the World Coatings Council for the next two years.

The World Coatings Council, which has been a global voice with the United Nations, governments, and NGOs for more than 30 years, provides the industry with a forum for discussion and collaboration.

It includes members representing associations from the United States, China, the European Union, Japan, Malaysia, Canada, South Africa, Turkey, France, Germany, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom.

“I am extremely honored to have been trusted by my industry colleagues worldwide to be elected as President on behalf of the global coatings industry. I look forward to representing the industry and contributing to our global efforts,” said Bowtell.

“I am delighted that Tom has accepted the position of President of the World Coating Council. Moreover, he is a global leader not only in the coatings industry but also in the association community. Tom and the new WCC Vice President, Monica Alcala of the Mexican Paint and Ink Manufacturers Association (ANAFAPYT), will do a great job leading our organization. As WCC celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022, I can think of no one better positioned to represent our industry on the world stage,” said Andy Doyle,  CEO of the Floral Coatings Association.
